Mainly this deals with the many potty breaks younger kids "need" during road trips.
Our solution in this house it to bring along a potty training toilet that way you can stop anywhere!
This also works great with potty training and having to drive even 15 minutes somewhere.
My thoughts and tid-bits on life and letting myself and other's know what we feel is normal and we aren't alone.

Tip-of-the-Day~Indulge Yourself
Whatever it is you indulge yourself in something you enjoy.
Food, shopping, a movie, spa, massage, time alone, a trip, whatever it may be indulge and enjoy something for yourself once a month (unless it's a big thing like a long trip that costs a lot of money then maybe twice a year depending on your income and responsibilities).
You will feel refreshed and happier after you do something for yourself and indulge in something you love!

Tip-of-the-Day~Christmas Bliss
That's right I'm already thinking about Christmas and what to do for it...truth is I have been since March!
This tip is to help alleviate the stress associated with Christmas. Start early buy a small gift one month maybe save for a couple to purchase a larger one and just find a place to hid them...however don't forget you have them! To avoid "losing" them in your hiding spot (let's face it we have all done that thinking we cleverly hid something then completely forgot about it) right after you hide it place the name of the item or "X's gift" in your calender on your phone set for the beginning of December so you can start slowly wrapping them.
If you are a handmade crafter (such as myself) then start projects early and avoid the late nights close to the holidays that turn us all into Grinches.
Anyways I will be starting a bunch this week, already have one going, and finishing 2 more hopefully in the next week as well.

Tip-of-the-Day~Finding Pets
1) Check your local shelter first!!! Often the animals come spayed/neutered and are up to date on shots and medicines. Our shelter even microchips the animals. Also all shelters do promotions (especially when they are getting crowded) so watch for those and it really cuts the cost, but don't hesitate to get an animal if you find "the one" when it's not during a promotion.
2) Know the time, space, and money you are willing to put towards your animal and select accordingly (a low maintenance do that doesn't require a lot of attention for those away from home for most of the day or a cat who doesn't mind being left alone)
3) DON'T settle! If the animal it the specific breed/type you want BUT there is NO CONNECTION then don't get the animal! The right one will come along.
4) The "RIGHT" one may not be the breed/type you were anticipating. We wanted a short haired no shedding dog (such as a Lab) but the one that found us (well connected instantly with Dallas and was great with our 3 girls) was Alice who is a German Shepherd/Lab and German Shepherds have an undercoat therefore they shed A LOT!!! Dallas was worried about this but I told him I would sweep and vacuum EVERY day to keep it under control and that is what I have done. When you find the animal you connect with don't be put off by anything that connection doesn't always come and you CAN make adjustments to have that animal (besides uprooting and finding a new place I don't think you should do that unless you were wanting to anyways)
I'm telling you when that connection is made you grab hold of it (this was her first night with us and the ONLY time I allowed this to happen)
She is so good with our girls I love it!
The girls love her too (this is just a week after getting her)

Tip-of-the-day~ Avocado prep
Ok so Boog LOVES avocados and I like to make guacamole so the need of knowing how to easily pit and "peel" an avocado became a necessity for me.
You will need an avocado, knife, cutting board, a spoon, and clean hands.
Here are the basic steps to getting an avocado editable-y ready:
The technique of going around the peel with a spoon also works wonderfully with Kiwis!
Hope this was helpful to someone ;)
You will need an avocado, knife, cutting board, a spoon, and clean hands.
Here are the basic steps to getting an avocado editable-y ready:
I start at the top of the avocado and push my knife down until it hits the pit then rotate it around until there is a slice around the entire avocado.
Second I twist one side (helps if your avocado isn't as ripe as it needs to be other wise you usually can just pull it apart, but I like to twist them ;)) in order to get the halves to come apart.
Now you have one side that has a pit in it that needs removed...
Third I squeeze the sides of the avocado just a little to help loosen the pit then I take my spoon and go around the pit and it will pop out.
Now the pit is gone.
To get the avocado out of the peel I do the same thing as I did with the pit I take my spoon and place it inside the peel between it and the fruit and make my way all the way around at a slight angle so that you get under all or it.
Here is the peel free of the fruit after going around it. Now do it to the other half (if you will be using it as well)
Now you are ready to enjoy your avocado!
Hope this was helpful to someone ;)

Tip-of-the-Day~getting around fast
This is especially helpful when you have kids.
I set clothes out for the family before bed and when it comes doing the girls' hair for church and they want something fancy like an up-do we do it the night before and just pin back what came loose during the night. Ladies you can do this too. Just think ahead and you can save so much time...try outfits on and determined what you want to do hair wise before bed.

Tip-of-the-Day~sore throat remedy
Have a night time cough or sore throat? A spoonful of honey relieves this (not sugar Mary Poppins!) It works wonders on all 3 of my girls and myself.

A Little About Me
I stay at home with my 3 girls, well 2 these days since the oldest just started 1st grade. For the purpose of this blog I will refer to myself as "Roxy" my husband as "Dallas" our oldest (6 years old) as "Boog", middle (3 years old) as "Bug", and our youngest (17 months old) as "Cookie" these are their nicknames for me at home so I thought I would use them in the blog world as well. Also I don't want to specify their names since there are a lot of crazy things going on in the world today I don't want them to be targeted. We have an awesome dog that we adopted from our local shelter (if you are ever looking for a pet please look at your local shelter first!) and a sweet and feisty little kitty that we also adopted from the same shelter.
Anyways I have a B.S. (Bachelor's of Science) in Accounting and Dallas has a B.S. and a M.D. (Master's Degree) in Computer Science and software development. He currently works developing software for a great little company (10 people on staff) called BlueLid Technologies and on the side a few of the guys (including the 2 bosses) work for a new branch of the company BlueLid Labs writing apps for Iphone and Android. Dallas finished his first one back in May called Reading Buddy. It's a great app for school aged children that are required to read for a certain amount of time each day and it's not able to navigate outside the program without closing it completely to prevent other activity on the device being used other than them reading.
I am going to start doing a "Tip of the Day" post about random things I find useful while caring for my children, disciplining, cooking, crafting, just whatever I have thought useful to know and either was told by someone and thought "GENIUS!" or found out the hard way as thought "Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this?!?!?" I by no means think I am an expert at any of the tips I post or in parenting but if something helped me I am more than willing to help others around me in trying to raise their own families.
Anyways that's a little about us.

My Beautiful Baby
My latest pregnancy was going just like my previous 3 even up to it being another girl :) I was so excited to get to see my little girl she was running her face on the ultrasound. This was the last time I would see her alive and I am thankful for the dvd that was made for me of this appointment. 3 weeks later we moved across the country, bought a new house, and stated a new life. 3 weeks after moving out I had my next appointment where we learned her heart had stopped and our little girl was no longer going to be on this earth with us. I was so devastated by the news, even more so that I had brought my other girls with me to hear their baby sister's heart beat. I wanted no one to know about it, couldn't talk to anyone without breaking down. I am blessed to be living near my sister and brother in law who just 2 years prior (almost to the day) lost one of their babies too. They took our 3 girls during the time that my husband and I were in the hospital and my other brother in law drove 10 hours after doing his rotations to be with us. My sister in law helped me gain perspective on what I was going through and to be able to share my story with others. I delivered my baby girl at 26 weeks and she is classified as a stillbirth.
My closure came after the burial service for my little Abby, and even more so after I received her fetal death certificate. Many might not know how someone could be laughing, smiling, and genuinely happy just a week after such a loss. I was. It was so hard to go to the funeral home the day after delivering her to pick out her casket and make all the arrangements, but reflecting back I am so happy with everything that we were able to do. I was able to make her a little hat and blanket and her big sisters helped me pick out her dress (at Toy's 'R' Us in the doll section). My girls also made her pictures, picked out a miniature doll for her and my oldest even made her a tiny ring and stated "I know babies can't have small things, but Abby can't swallow it." She is a great big sister along with the other 2 girls! Another program that I am grateful for being available was Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDS) an non-profit for infant and child loss that comes to do free photography for you to have as keepsakes. They are professional photographers and I absolutely loved the man that did ours and I will forever cherish my pictures.
I know that I will get to see her again and I know this knowledge has helped me through this. I also know that my other girls and my husband need me so I couldn't just shut down, but many nights I would wake up crying as I pictures my baby and remember holding her. There are nights that I still can't get to sleep but I am functional, happy, and moving forward with out life not to forget Abby but to remember her. I can't stop progressing in this life because of losing Abby if I do that I won't see her again; this life is to be lived and for progression. I still learn each day something new from my experience from Abby and she even helps teach her big sisters how to love and be kind to each other often because of not knowing when you won't get to have them around again.
Anyways having a roller coaster of emotions (from doing great for an extended period to just having a rotten down day) is normal and I know this. Reflecting back to think "what could I have done different to prevent this?" is a tireless question. Another thing that that doesn't help heal is wonder if a certain thing (like a 20 hour drive, riding on a carousel, riding a farris wheel) are what caused this to happen. In my case I know that the rides were safe and that the drive was broken up into 3 hour increments due to 2 kids that need potty breaks and me being 24 weeks pregnant at the time of our move.
I hope that my random babbling may help someone out there dealing with something similar, or maybe comments made can help everyone.
